My cat keeps sitting in front of our main door, trying to escape.

The only reason I can think of for why he is doing that is because he has not been neutered. Ever since I let him out a few times to our yard, he kept trying to escape whenever the door opens. In the beginning, he just went under a car, refusing to get out, forcing us to grab him one way or another. After a while, we noticed kittens living in our yard, which our cat kept staring at while under the car, even biting one of them at some point. I really don't want him to become an outdoor cat, but he doesn't seem to be interested in any toys I bring him, and all he thinks about is going out. Is my only solution neutering him, or is there some other way ?
