my cat Sarge is about 13+ years old. and today, as my roommate described him, he has transformed into Church from pet semetery. i’m sick to my stomach about it, i let him outside this morning and then couldn’t find him until about 4 pm. once i found him, he was drooling behind my trash cans on the side of the house, nearly facing the wall. his breathing seems heavy and he won’t drink or eat anything. he doesn’t want to be inside, when i just forced him to come in, he quickly went to my closet where i followed him to wash him off - he smells foul and his chin is a clump of soggy fur from the drool, plus he has eye boogies.
i don’t know what to think, my roommate and i got a kitten (Koga) last year and it seems like ever since then Sarges health has started deteriorating. i hope that Koga, who Sarge has never been fond of, hasn’t taken a toll on my old man :( perhaps when i got koga, sarge began to feel less loved and now he’s dying because i haven’t loved him as much as i used to and i just feel awful and want advice on how i can make him feel comfortable right now
he was acting weird yesterday but i didn’t think too much of it, and he has a history of having bad ears, plus a scab on his chin that hasn’t healed in over a year. i took him to the vet a couple months ago for an ear infection, and the vet didn’t seem concerned with his chin scab and gave me medicine for his ear. also, after ear treatments his ears never fully recovered, not sure if that is the cause of this behavior right now.
also, tomorrow i will take him to an animal hospital.
