My gerbil, Biscuit (1 y/o) keeps getting these nasty sinus infections every 3-4 months or so. Complete with nasal and eye discharge that is red in color, missing fur around the nose and eyes, and so on. I take her to the doc everytime and they give her antibiotics to clear it up. Her vet says he thinks its the shape of her nose that makes her susceptible for bacterial infections, her nose is more short and stout shaped. He thinks itll be a life-long problem. I take really good care of my 'bils but she keeps getting sick! What can I do to help prevent her from getting sick so much?
