We got a new kitten about 5months ago from a friend whose cat had kittens. We already had an existing cat, approx. 8y.o male who is neutered.
Now the new female kitten was 6weeks old when we got her and she wasn't spayed.
We fully intended to have her spayed but our vet said they had to be at least 5-6m.o before they would do the procedure.
However, he kept trying to mate with her. When she was finally 6m.o we got her spayed. It's been about a month since she was spayed and he is STILL trying to mate with her!
Now I know it's not exactly like anything can come from it however the issue is that he is trying to mate with her all the time. If they both aren't asleep, she will be trying to play like a 6m.o kitten does and he starts doing the "I want to mate with you" meow, he tries to "play fight" with her and pin her down to try and hump her.
I am usually very patient with him, because he has been an only cat until this point and thought he just doesn't know what to do with another cat, but now it is getting to a point of me resenting him because he is waking me up yeowling and meowing his mating meows at her, AT 5AM IN THE MORNING!!!
I seperate them by bring him into my room and shutting the door so he can't get out but then he just sits there trying to get my attention by doing his "prrrp" sound repeatedly until I give in and let him out, because I just want to sleep.
Does anyone have any advice on how to stop him from doing this?
How do I get my male cat to stop being a sexual predator lol
