Hi everyone
Im going to try to give as many details as possible, I know no one can assure me that they will get along but I want to get as much advice as possible. In 2016 I found a stray kitten, around two months old, it could not walk so it would just drag itself around with its front legs. I took it to the vet and they told me he probably got ran over, he was fucked inside, they told me he had no chance and to put it down. I decided to let him pass away at home so he would feel loved during his last days. I bought pain killers and antibiotics to make sure he wasnt suffering. Well, he never died, he healed all on his own, learned how to walk and today he is a perfect boy. During the first year we lived with my parents and baby sister, everyone got along well. Then my family left the country so it was just the two of us. For the past three years he has been my baby, no family and very small circle, he is my everything. At the end of this year I will have graduated college and will be moving countries to live with my family for about six months. I want to take him with me so badly, here is why im scared.
The issue:
I think my cat has kind of "ptsd" from his time as a stray. He is super scared of the outside world, he pees himself every time I put him in his carrier, he trembles and tries to hide. He does not know how to be with other animals. A friend brought his kitten over to try to "acclimate" him to being with another being, it went horrible. He screamed like he was getting tortured, he wanted to kill the kitten, he hissed (never does) and attacked us, biting and clawing and drawing blood. He is usually calm and even when he scratches me you can tell its not to hurt me. My family found a stray chihuahua two years ago. She is old and blind. She also hates other animals, and like my cat, is very scared of everything that isnt my family. Is it even possible for them to coexist? I hate stressing either one.
Also, I would have to fly from Buenos Aires to Santo Domingo, stopping at Panama. I have never flown with a pet, and I dont know how my cat would survive the traumatic experience. New country, new house, new pet. I feel so bad for everyone involved. If there is no chance for this to work I know a couple that would love to take him in before I leave. They took care of him for three months when I went to visit my family, and they fell in Love with him. They asked to visit him and for me to send them pics of him, I know they truly care for him.
I would be beyond destroyed to leave him here, but im willing to have my heart broken so his doesnt have to. Can you guys tell me your stories? good and bad ones. I wanna hear it all with no filter. Thank you for reading, if I dont get any answers at least I got to vent :)
