Getting my first ever kitten today and have read a lot about using a bathroom / small empty room as a safe room for a few weeks. However, the only room we (living with housemates) have safe and useable is my bedroom, where I'd like the kitten to be based anyway.
I read that you can create a safe room in a bedroom using tall screens but can't get that short notice in lockdown. A few people say they didn't bother with a safe room so thinking to do the same but wanted to check here to be sure.
The room's fairly big. I've been kitten-proofing to the best of my ability. But I have a couch with a small space it could crawl under and out of immediate reach, though it's not a cramped space and can easily be moved to get the kitten out. I have a double bed, but with a pretty big gap between the floor and the bed. I also have a fireplace / chimney area but I've taped a mat to cover the top so it can't crawl up. Biggest worry is the small gap between my bedroom door and floor that it could crawl through but I have a cushion draft excluder I'm hoping will work well enough? (Might even tape it to the door).
So in your opinion / experience am I ok to let it roam around this type of room from the start? And any other tips you think I should know would be welcome.
