Hi all,
Probably been asked before but I wanted to get an opinion here.
Both cats are female.
We've had a resident indoor cat for a year now, she is one years old and was generally quite chilled out. She didn't like being picked up but she enjoyed play time a few hours a day. The remainder of the time, she would chill by a window etc.
We got a new kitten three days ago, she's 10 weeks old and is quite energetic and chilled too. We've been keeping her separate in a bedroom, whilst resident cat has full access to the house as usual. We've introduced them a few times in a room for 20-30 mins at a time and there's been a lot of hissing and growling from resident cat. New kitten has been very chilled, just lies down and does her own thing.
While we anticipate that it will take a few more introductions and some time to get them both used to eachother, the thing that is concerning me most is how resident cat has changed towards us. She used to always come upstairs at night and meow at the doors to be played with - She doesn't do that now. She used to have episodes of getting very hyper and playing, which she hasn't had since we got new kitten. She's also eating 1/2 her bowl as opposed to a full bowl now.
We got this kitten to keep her company, I'm really worried that we've made things worse. Will our resident cat remain this way? Or will she go back to normal and be more attached/playful with us again?
Its only been three days so I may be over reacting - Im just worried
Thank you
