I just adopted a very timid cat three days ago and I know it's still early, but she is my first pet and I want to do whatever I can to make her feel comfortable. She is almost three. Her old owners said she was shy. I took her to my room as soon as we got home and at first she ran underneath my bed and the next day she was underneath my dresser. She lets me pet her and kneads my arm and purrs when I do and it makes me so happy. She's really affectionate and loves to be pet. I started spoon feeding her and put her litter box in my room (even though it smells SO bad when she poops lol), but I just want to know if there is anything else I can do so she can become comfortable quickly and start cuddling with me. She usually goes to the bathroom at night when I'm asleep and I just want to love her. I also just recently bought a pheromone diffuser and I want her to feel safe and comfortable. I go to her hiding spot a few times a day and I pet her and talk to her in a soft voice so she feels better. I laid down next to her hiding spot and she came up to me and sniffed me and immediately ran away. Any help would be appreciated thank you!
