So my tabby kitty is 11 months old, will turn a year in July. He was adopted in January. Shortly after we adopted him, he became very sick. We thought he had a severe upper respiratory infection but the vet actually diagnosed him with feline herpes. He got an antibiotic shot which helped him regain his energy (he was lethargic for sometime), had some trouble with his eyes so we had to get him some strong antibiotic eye drops. Since February and March he’s been doing fine. Stopped giving him Lysine and eye drops a month or two ago because he was fine and healthy and didn’t exhibit any unhealthy symptoms. Well last night I came home from being away for two days and unfortunately he is becoming sick again which really worries me. He is sneezing quite often especially after he eats or while moving around. He shakes his head quite a bit when he moves as if he has a tick. He occasionally scratches himself as if he has fleas but not as much as he sneezes. He is not lethargic but I notice he is not as energetic as usual. His eyes are also watery. Should I maybe wait a couple of days and see if he improves with lysine and eye drops before considering taking him to the vet or make a vet appt ASAP? Any owners who have kitties with feline herpes, did your cat experience upper respiratory infections symptoms months after getting diagnosed? I thought this was only supposed to occur one time and he would be all better for a long time. π
