Hello everyone!
As the title states our male cat gets aggressive whenever we go out our back door. We have 2 cats, 1 male( 1yr old), 1 female( 2yrs old) plus a dog, both indoor cats, both very playful and we play with them all the time. Recently ( or that we noticed) whenever we go out our backdoor to either let our dog out or simply go out the male cat will follow us to the door and will boop anyone that comes in through the door or even the utility room connecting. Just a short bit ago while i was asleep my wife was bringing in fresh cat litter inside from the backdoor and he ( male cat) just attacked her, clawed her legs, hissing at the other two animals, I was sleeping but heard the noise and quickly went to investigate and he went after me. My wife picked up the other cat and went out on the back deck to get away and i swooped him into the kitchen and closed the door( he wasn't happy, hissing and clawing it) so i can understand what all happened.
He was calm for a moment, my wife grabbed a leash and took him on the deck( We let him roam the grass a bit on a leash, he was normally an outside cat we think, or that's how the people we adopted him from found him wondering into a Kroger). As soon as I touched the door handle his attention shifted onto me and his eyes went black, growling and hissing at the door, when he couldn't get to me he turned to my wife who he did not attack but was ready to. We got him away from the back part of the house and now hes inside and his usual calm self. Hes always been a very lovey cat, hes twice the size of the female cat yet hes scared of her. They all have their shots. But we just do not know why whenever any of us go to the back door he gets aggressive. The only thing that's happened is our house was broken into twice when were moving into this home roughly 6 months ago, once before while we were transitioning and a week after the first time because the door was still broken( Landlord finally fixed it few months later).
TL;DR : Very calm male cat suddenly attacked wife when she came in from the backdoor, including myself and the other two animals, but only when we are at that door. Everywhere else he is his calm and lovey self, but if we open the utility door or backdoor he's on alert.
