My 24 year old cat is nearing the end of her life. What can I do to make her feel better?

My cat has been healthy and fat all her life and has never showed any symptoms for the past 24 years on this earth.

However, I tried to feed my cat her usual dinner just now but she didn’t want to eat. She also loses her balance when she tries to walk and has been urinating outside the litter box.

For the past two days she has been howling very loudly, day and night. I don’t think she has slept at all. She has been staring out into the distance and hasn’t been very responsive to head scratches or pets.

I think it has became clear to me that she is nearing the end of her life. Should I take her to the vet to get some pain reliever? What can I do to make her feel better? Any advice is appreciated.
