This is something that started recently. We live in a bachelor, just me and the cat. Whenever I go into the bathroom and out of the main room, my cat follows me and meows up a storm. He then lays in front of the door, which is usually open and stares at me silently. When I leave the bathroom he freaks out, hisses, hides under the table for no more than 5-10 seconds then comes out and goes back to being good regular snuggly affectionate self. It's always the exact same routine in that exact same order. I have a few theories:
- Before our trip to the vet I had to corner him in the bathroom to get him into the crate to keep him from hiding under the bed. Maybe he associates it with this - though this behavior started weeks after the vet trip.
- He does not like the strong scent of my new skin care products which I'm often applying in the bathroom.
- He ate a spider in there once.
- I'm usually getting ready in the bathroom before heading out for the day. Maybe he's trying to keep me from leaving.
