Just looking for a the community thought on what might be wrong with my boy. He's a 12yr old short hair domestic who's been having issues with bloody diarrhea (and an unwillingness to poop in the litterbox if that matters). He is otherwise healthy, took him to the vet a couple weeks ago, they ran a fecal smear and found no parasites, a geriatric blood screen which found no issues. His appetite seems healthy. She sent us home with some metronidazole and told me to give 1mL to him every 12 hours for 7 days. During the time he was taking the med, the diarrhea was gone, his stool was non bloody logs and he had an even better appetite than before. Now that we have stopped the meds, things are back to how they were before them. I've left a message for the vet as their office is closed today because of the riots but I was hoping to get some idea from the community on what else to look for, what to ask the vet, maybe some better food? etc.
