Don’t get me wrong, I love my little buddy with all my heart, but Jesus Christ does this cat push my buttons. His name is Jolteon and he’s a fluffy flame point Siamese. I’ve had him for running up on 5 years now. Even from when he was a little 6 week old kitten, he was always like this. I thought he would have calmed down by now but no such luck, and I really need some tips because his behavior is starting to cause problems.
A little info: he is neutered and has all his shots, he doesn’t seem to be in pain anywhere and has never had any ticks or anything like that
First of all, he is constantly rowdy. He has off moments and days where he’ll be good and just nap or relax for a few hours. But otherwise, he’s always causing some kind of havoc. Whether he’s tearing through the house, ripping up bags, ripping up the furniture (despite the many scratching posts), or knocking things over and breaking them.
Second, he fights with the other cats. Not as much with my other cat Marble, who he has a good relationship with and is on close enough terms to groom and snuggle with. But my roommate’s cats, he will fight with at all times of the day. He’ll go after the sweet gentle one so much and literally rip the poor thing’s hair out and not let him leave my roommate’s bedroom. The other male cat stands up to Jolt and they square off a lot, but it’s like they’re just constantly having spats with each other all day.
Jolt luckily doesn’t fight us (the humans) unless he’s angry with us. And he’s a really big, really STRONG cat. Idk how he got so strong but even my male roommate has a tough time handling him. He will bite me when I try to get him to come inside from the small garden (don’t worry it’s fenced in and I stay outside to watch him), he’ll scream and scratch the hell out of me if I try to pick him up, he’ll scratch and fight me if I try to do something like clean his butt because he has poop on it, if I’m trying to get him in the crate to go to the vet, he’s just very mean when he’s not getting his way.
And when he’s about to start being bad I can literally see it in his body. His fur on his back twitches and his tail starts swinging, and then after a few moments he always starts doing his BS.
In addition to this, he makes me lose A LOT of sleep. He is SO bad during the night it’s not even funny. I have to keep my bedroom door closed because I feed my cats separately from the others and the others will try to sneak in and eat their food if I don’t. But Jolt can’t seem to stop coming in and out ALL night. It’s usually a routine of he takes a couple bites of food, spends awhile loudly scratching things into the bowls to “cover” the uneaten food, somehow always seems to find plastic bags and scratch them for forever into the bowl, then he’ll wreak havoc around my room, maybe fight with Marble, and then beg to leave. But the way he begs to leave isn’t just a normal meow. He literally, and I mean literally, body slams himself into the door. Then he’ll get up on his hind legs and keep pouncing at the door so it makes a loud banging sound while scream meowing.
He’s woken me up on several occasions doing this, and now he’s developing a habit of begging to get out like this, and then really quickly darting under the bed and waiting for me to sit back down before he’ll leave. I have absolutely no clue why but it drives me nuts. And sometimes he’ll beg to leave and then not leave at all, just hop right up on the bed and go to sleep.
The problem is is that he does this over, and over, and over, ALL. NIGHT. Every single night. Begging to come in and out of the room all night. And when he’s not in my bedroom, he’s tearing through the house and fighting with the other cats.
I feel like I’m at wit’s end with him. I love him so much and I know he has the capacity to be good. He always lets me pet him, he really hates kisses but tolerates them from me and occasionally he’ll even come over and snuggle with me. Just earlier today he came and napped with me. But now it’s 3am and I’m writing this because he’s woken me up yet again with his antics.
I’ve considered that maybe he just has so much energy that he’s taking it out on everything and everyone, but he DOESNT like to play. I have so many toys and he just won’t play with any of them except this tiny pink rubber duck that occasionally he’ll chew on. He doesn’t like the feather thing, or the red light clicker, or the rabbit kicker toy, or any of the yarn balls, or any of the other balls. He just isn’t interested in playing.
What the hell should I do to get him to start behaving? None of the other cats behave the way he does. He’s just so rambunctious and rough.
