We are a house of three cats and one of our little fur ball is having a rough time and he is only 3 years old, We need some light at the end of the tunnel and money will not stop me from making sure he is feeling better and healthier than he is now. Do not get me wrong, If we need to do what we need to do since the quality of life he will have is poor, then we need to do what we need to do. It started with the typical hair ball and none of the vomit had food in it, a few here and there, not much to really say anything is wrong until about day 7 (I am rough estimating the days). His vomit started to happen more and more about two times during the day and two times at night. The vomit was a clear liquid but still with hair in the vomit. Day 14 the vomit started to change to a brown color and the hair that was present in the vomit was starting to deminish and the vomit started to smell. Day 17 the vomit was mostly the brown water although it had a very strong death like oder still a small bit of hair mixed in but there was much more liquid and seemed to be growing in the size of the puddle. This is when we started to really notice that something was not right with our little one, having 3 cats in the house it was also hard to figure out which one was actually sick, It helped to pin-point which cat when puddles became sluggish and stayed in a single spot most of the day and all night. Between day 18 and day 21 we were out of the house delevering our daughter but this is when we started realizing that something was very wrong. When we were out of the house I had my mother in law check on the little fur babies during the day and she said the only puked once during the span of the 4 days, we thought things would be getting better but when we returned we noticed a big difference in his weight, he was once (we have not had him measured in a while but he was close) a 22 pound kitty and is now 12 pounds. We called up a animal hospital and took him on day 22. While there we found out that puddles has a heart murmur, grade 4, which is new to us as he always seemed fine when getting a check up. They ran some x-rays and found 3 small "things" that looks like they are on their way out of his system. When they did some blood work they found he has high amounts of white blood cells. They ran a UTI test on his urine and that came back negative. They also prescribed us antibiotics, de-wormer (as a "just in case") and antiacid. The doctor was really concerned with the murmur and wants us to go to a specialist to have him looked at. We also woke up to urine on the floor, which I know is not a great sign. Today was day 23, We again woke up to urine on the floor but also he is not eating and from what I can remember he was eating before day 18. He is not longer puking but I imagine that is because of the medicine. He is still very sluggish, I tried to offer food twice today and even though he seemed interested in it he would not eat. Tonight we are going to let him stay in the bathroom with water, food and a clean litter box so we know if he eats and so we can have a better idea on what his bowl movements look like. I came here because I am afraid for bubba and I figure maybe someone on here has some advise or has been through the same thing. I want to keep fighting for bubba, but as mentioned, only if he is willing to let me.
