I have a cat that’s about 1 year old. He’s only been an only cat but I’ve taken him to friends with another cat and they got along great. He’s stayed there for about 2 weeks without me as well and they still did well together.
Part of why I want to get him a friend is because he is a very hyperactive cat, a little more than other kittens I’ve had (which is adorable) however when I’m not home to watch he can get into everything and tears into things so I have to be careful of what I have in my room.
The space I have him in isn’t huge but not tiny and he has space to do his crack head runs randomly and I’ve created space for him to climb up high and look out a window and I have a cat cage that’s on a deck that he can walk into during the day and be outside but still safe.
My other issue is when I do leave him he can cry for hours and I’m concerned he may have a little bit of separation anxiety. I was given him around 4/5 weeks which is too soon so I’m worried he’s unhealthily attached to me and i want him to be confident because I don’t want him to be uncomfortable.
Any advice if another cat would help him when I’m gone? I am going to be moving to a bigger apartment in the next few months.
