Trying to decide whether or not to return foster cat

My boyfriend and I decided to foster two 3 month old kittens. We got them this past Sunday. My bf is working from home indefinitely and we have a spare bed and bath to keep them separate from our 2 resident cats. One of them (gray) is shy but super sweet. The other (Orange) is kind of a nightmare. He’s sweet when he’s in the bathtub but when he leaves it he’s like a different cat.

I understand Orange is still getting used to his surroundings. But we can’t get within 6 feet of him without him hissing and growling. Last night we woke up at 3 am to him fighting with our resident cats through the crack under the door even though we had shoved a blanket there to prevent that (he moved it).

When we went in to check on him he freaked out and wound up getting his tail caught in the cord of our blinds so for a few seconds he was hanging upside down by his tail. I couldn’t get close to help but thankfully he freed himself. He hasn’t tried to bite or scratch but we’re both kind of scared of him. He’s unapproachable and unpredictable. We think he’s a bad influence on Gray too.

We’ve never fostered cats before and we’re thinking maybe orange belongs with a more experienced foster. I don’t want to give up on him, but I’m scared he’ll hurt himself and that we can’t help him develop the way he should. It would be better to focus on gray who just needs a little coaxing but isn’t aggressive and temperamental.

Any advice? I just want to do the right thing.
