Two things I just realized about my cat

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and realized two things about my cat and two things really stood out.

  1. My cat, Pixie, is probably a senior cat now. She’s 11 years old. The typical lifespan for a Bengal is 14-16 years.

  2. From that last one, she might not make it until I graduate from college. With her age, expected lifespan, and the fact that she’s an outdoor cat, she might not make it until I graduate.

Realizing these really makes me appreciate the time I’ve had so far with Pixie. I’ve never gotten as close to a pet as I have with Pixie (I’ve spent more time with her than I have with many people). I’m happy she’s made it this far and I hope she can go on for as long as possible. She’s really showing no signs of slowing down! So at the same time as having to come to terms with the fact that the inevitable day may come sooner than I’ll be ready for (which will be never, if I’m being completely honest. I’ll never be ready for it), it really makes me look back and appreciate everything I’ve done with my cat on another level. Just felt the need to rant, I don’t really have someone to say this to
