My wife's cat, the 17-year-old that she raised since he was just a week or so old, and would bottle-feed, started scaring us today with unusual behaviors. He mostly sleeps all day, but he is spry enough to play with our 3-yo cat, and run when she chases him. Today, though, he seems to have started drooling in his sleep, he seems to be breathing heavily, and while walking, he now tends to list toward the right, as if he's losing his balance. He's also not eating the food he usually loves, which is a mushy kind of paste. We've recently had to give him softer and softer foods, because I don't think he can chew the hard pieces anymore. Until today, he seemed he was in great health, and everyone always comments how young he looks.
Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on? We were considering giving it a day or so, seeing how he is, and then deciding to take him to the Vet. Any insight is welcome, and very much appreciated.
