I just got off the phone with my vet because my dog has been nauseous and thrown up twice in the past two days. I move around for work so I’m fairly new to this clinic. They told me to get medicine for him, I’ll have to schedule a visit even though he’s already been seen numerous times and they have all of his medical history. The last time this happened he had diarrhea and I just wanted medication, but I took the bait and I took him in. They then did X-Rays to search for stomach blockage and couldn’t see anything so they did an ultrasound and ran all kinds of tests. The bill ended up being just a little shy of $1,000 and the remedy provided was a $30 bottle of pills which is all I was looking for to begin with.
I find it pretty ridiculous I have to bring him in for a $50 visit just for the pet equivalent of Pepto Bismal. I’m also fairly certain this was not standard practice at the Vet I’d go to in Texas as if I needed medicine I could go in and pick it up.
Has anyone else had this issue or have any solutions? If the situation was of serious nature and he wasn’t bouncing around, I would have no issues taking him in.
