My cat is an indoor cat but every evening they seem to always want to get out so I need to watch them and whenever I open the front door, otherwise they would try to dart out. It's not the same during daytime. At daytime they back away from the door or sometimes even hide. They're a black cat too and since it's October I'm being even more careful to make sure they don't accidentally get out.
First off, does anyone know why they might just want to go out at night? But most importantly, how can I discourage them from suddenly darting out the door at night? Most of the time the door is closed so it usually isn't an issue but now we have someone who comes home at in the evening and so far, we've just gotten a system to where they would call to make sure we can take the cat into one of the rooms before opening the door. Any advice?
