So my girlfriend and I have decided it's time to live together so I'll be moving out of my parents house and into her apartment.
I can't bring my 9yo cat with me because she'd be going from a house with a backyard to play in to a tiny apartment with two other cats she's never met. I think the move would be more stressful for her than losing me.
I'm a little worried about how my cat will react to losing her primary caretaker. She sleeps in my room, often in my arms, every night and has been my best friend since I was 15. She's friendly with my dad so I assume she'll go to him but still, I'm worried that she'll get depressed or something. It isn't helping that my parents are using her to guilt me into staying either.
Anyone else been in the situation of leaving a cat behind and can offer advice?
