Rabbit turned sour after leaving for college

Hi everyone,

I (18F) have a (3F) holland lop named Peggy (spayed) who has stolen my heart since I first got her. To say we are bonded is an understatement, I've singlehandedly raised, cared for, and trained her since she was 2.5 months old. She is incredibly sweet and affectionate, although she can be quite particular and sassy.

Recently, I've left for my freshman year of college and left her in the care of my mother. She has been cared for by my mother in past (so she is used to my mom), however, it has only been for a long weekend at most. In the past 2 months, she has apparently turned standoffish and destructive. Peggy even bit my mom while she was trying to feed her, which she hasn't done since she was around 6 months.

I came home for a night and put her on my bed so we could cuddle before bed (a regular habit before I left). Peggy immediately peed all over my comforter and my pajamas which she also has not done since she was a baby.

I'm concerned for her since I can't have pets in my dorm and I want to try to do everything I can to make my absence as bearable as possible for her, but I just don't know what to do. She's a sweet girl and knows me as her momma so it's no surprise there are issues. Anyone have any suggestions on how to help me and my bun bun?
