My cat and her brother are littermates, they’ve been together since birth, a few days ago he went to be neutered and since then we have had non recognition aggression from his sister, this we completely understand now and are taking the steps to fix.
The one thing we are finding the most concerning is that on the day that her brother went to the vets (he was there from around 9am until 5pm) around an hour after he left in the morning she was suddenly VERY affectionate, rolling on her back showing her belly for pets, actively coming up to my partner and I for attention, all of which is extremely out of character for her, she is usually very aloof and only wants to be near you on occasion and certainly only on her terms, whereas now she will accept it all the time.
It has been 4 days of this now and the only change is her brother not being in the same rooms as her due to her aggression towards him, and she actually seems a bit happier although shows signs of missing a playmate occasionally, usually during a case of the zooms.
I guess my question is could it be possible that she has been stressed by her brother this whole time? And her getting time away from him at the vet has broke that pattern and now she isn’t happy to accept him back?
It’s starting to really scare me that she would be a happier cat if she lived alone, her brother really misses her :(
