Thinking about getting another cat

So I have had my two cats for 8 years and back in March, my female cat passed away due to kidney failure, leaving her brother behind. I've been thinking about getting another cat and needed some advice on how to go about it. He's neutered but can still be territorial, he's not mean or violent, he's actually pretty chill just rough when he plays sometimes. He has been around another male cat (this cat was an inside/outside cat and my cat is strictly inside) that was pretty chill for a year or so, and had no issues except for the few times he marked his territory on the Christmas tree. We kept a female kitten for a friend for a week where he kept his distance from her and hissed when she got too friendly. I figured since they didn't have enough time to associate with each other, that's why he was acting that way towards her. I'd like to get another female cat similar to my other female cat, because of the temperament of the breed. I also have a dog, which my cat gets along with but mainly doesn't associate with him due to him being larger and overly excited. I want him to have a play mate again, he and his sister were inseparable but they were raised together. What should I do?
