I adopted a lovely pandemic puppy in March of 2020. Given the fact that I have been home pretty much all the time for the entirety of his young life, he is very anxious when I am not around. We’ve slowly gotten used to me being outside of the house (he is fine with this now) and when I’ve had to travel for 3 days he was able to stay with my roommate who he is now used to and ok with. Previous times I’ve tried to leave him with a dog sitter/at a pet daycare have been absolutely catastrophic and I always have to go back to get him. He is very anxious around people he doesn’t know and can’t stand other dogs (always runs away from them and hides - he is terrified of the dog park). My family lives out of the country and can’t travel because of Covid but I’d really like to see them for Christmas. My roommate unfortunately is also gone during that time. What can I do about my dog? I told my family I wouldn’t come for Christmas because I am too worried about leaving my dog but they are upset because they haven’t seen me in so long. Are there personalized dog care options? What can I do if my dog is too afraid of any other human but me and my roommate? I love him so much but may also have to travel for work sometimes and don’t know what to do
