Which Kitten should I keep?

So...im kind of in a predicament that I wasn't expecting.

I have a kitten named Max that is 6 months old. He's nice, friendly and I like him..but...it's not all perfect though. He has separation anxiety. If I leave the room and go into the bedroom, he cries, Carrier? Cries. Not awake when he wants me to be at 5 am? Cries.

So I figured he needed a buddy, so I got him a kitten(girl) and that has helped. She is soooo cute. However, I felt bad because I separated her from her brother and they are young, So I went to go get her brother as well, and so far so good. I am looking at seeing how they will develop in the coming weeks. They are 8 weeks and he is 6 months, so thats a big difference in kitty world. The thing is that they were found outside, and right now, I know they can be nice but I do not know when there full personality will develop.

The problem is now I have 3 kittens, and the max I can have is 2. To make matters worse, I just got my 6 month old neutered, good for him, but bad for me because now I am out $300 if I rehome him.

Since I can only keep 2, I will have to rehome 1. There is really no way around it. The new kitty was squirming at first when I would hold him, but now he has calmed down. I prefer a kitten that likes cuddles. And then I have my 6 month kitty there too. Here are my options.

  1. I can rehome Max. It sucks, I will be out $300 and with him, I already know what I am getting. But It is what it is.
  2. Rehome the new kitten(boy) that I just got. I can either do it now, or I can let them stay together for a few weeks so they can play and get comfortable, and then do it.
  3. Suck it up and try to keep all three. Cram all 4 of us in a 1 bedroom apt. Defy the apartment rules that says I can only take two and hope I don't get caught.

Max also got out last night..twice. I had to calmly walk to him as not to spook him..i wonder if that's a sign. No other cat that I have ever had has laid wait by the door and done this. What do you guys think?
