I'd like some advice on what to do, because I'm not sure. So basically within the past few months my cat (11 years old) has started pooping wherever he pleases? It's next to impossible to discipline him for it because it's hard to "catch him in the act". Anyone have any ideas why he could be doing this? My mom's suspicion is that because his litter box is in the laundry room, perhaps a machine related noise spooked him one day and now he's nervous? He does poop in the litter box usually, but once in a while he'll just go where he pleases (like today on the kitchen floor, or once on a small pile of clothes on the floor). I'm going to take him to the vet, but I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, or any ideas on what to do to change this behaviour??
