Posting here to get some possible advice. We recently got a propane fireplace insert installed and we’ve been using it on a regular basis given it’s winter and extremely cold where I live.
I’ve noticed our cat likes to lay right in front of it when we have it turned on and she will lay there for hours if it’s on that long. Once we turn it off she gets up (maybe 5-10 mins later) and drinks some water then maybe within 30 mins we’ll find vomit (basically just regurgitated food and fur 🤢) in random places.
She doesn’t vomit often (or hasn’t since we started using our fireplace on a regular basis) and there are no other odd or worrisome behaviours that we notice. I thought maybe she was overeating and then barfing because I’ve let her “self-feed” (just fill up her bowl when it’s low or empty, rather than measuring out food at set times each day). So I started putting a little bit of food out at a time. But yesterday she lounged in front of the fireplace for almost 2 hrs then after we turned it off we found vomit on our couch.
Curious if this is a thing that cats do or coincidence? Or really, if anyone else has experienced this with their cat?
*She eats dry cat food and drinks plenty of water, but not too much I don’t think?
