My little brother [M 25] lives with me [F 29]. We have a nice place in the city, but we're the only ones who live here. We get along great, but we hardly see one another due to our busy schedules. I work during day and he works nights. I've considered getting a dog for our home for the companionship since I love dogs, but my brother has a deathly fear of dogs. It's the strangest phobia! My brother is strong and tough - both mentally and physically - yet he has this crippling fear of dogs. Once I dog sat for a friend's maltese who stayed with us, and my brother shuffled around in total fear that entire weekend.
My brother does much better around cats, however. I've thought about getting a cat, even though I don't really consider myself to be a cat person.
My brother is indifferent about getting any type of pet, but I simply can't adopt a dog. It wouldn't be fair to my brother or the dog.
Are there any good options for us? I'm hoping there's a breed of cat with dog-like behavior out there...
