Howdy,
My wife, daughter and I adopted a rescue dog today. She is a little over a year old. She was neglected by her previous owners. We also adopted our cat from previous abusive owners as well, about 7 years ago.
Cheech (our cat) is partially blind. He is very loving, but very afraid of dogs. No matter how friendly Athen (our newly adopted dog) tries to be with him, he starts hissing and swinging at her. Athena has yet to growl, bark or try to bite back at him though.
What can I do to help them get along? We have a two bedroom apartment. They have space to move away from each other, but I don't want to have to worry about fights breaking out.
