Advice for an offensively smelly cat

My cat is about 7 years old and smells HORRIBLE — the best way I can think to describe it is like rancid tuna fish. Based on the fact that it becomes so much worse when she opens her mouth to lick her paws, and she shows no signs of being unhealthy otherwise, I think it’s the smell of 7 years of cat food giving her terrible breath that she bathed herself in. And she grooms herself with that terrible mouth odor a lot. The issue is that her favorite way to show affection (basically the only way she does) is to get in my face and rub her smelly body all over my face, and lick me with her gross tongue.

I love my cat and want to be able to pet her for longer than 2 minutes at a time without feeling sick whenever she shoves her face in mine. What’s the best way to go about this? Breath mints? Any type of food that doesn’t smell spoiled after it’s been chewed? (Extra points if it helps her bowel movements to not be the worst of any cat I’ve ever met, but I kind of expect as much.) Would getting her bathed professionally do anything? (I’ve been debating this but only want to do so if I know for absolute certain it would fix the problem — the only baths she’s had in 7 years have been the increasingly disgusting and constant tongue baths.)

Thanks in advance for any tips from anyone who knows more about cat hygiene etc than I do and/or has maybe dealt with something like this before!
