Advice on leaving a very social cat for 10 days?

My husband and I have two cats, both about two years old -- one is pretty independent (female), and the other is very cuddly and social (male), but they both get along very well.

We have a vacation coming up, where we'll be gone for about 10 days. We've had short trips since we got them, but haven't been gone for longer than 4 days at a time yet, so I'm a bit worried that 10 days might be a bit long for them. We've previously had someone stop by twice a day when we're gone, to check up on them (as well as refill their food/water, clean the litterbox, and give them some playtime/cuddles). Each time we've returned so far, they've been perfectly fine, like we never even left.

I'm sure my female cat would be fine with just having someone stop by a couple times a day, but my male cat really loves attention. Every morning, without fail, I wake up to him curled up on top of me and purring. I may just be worrying too much, but I'm a bit concerned that being gone for 10 days might get him out of that routine, and I won't wake up to kitty cuddles anymore when we return. I know this is probably a residual fear from when my family left our cat for a 3-week vacation when I was a kid, with someone checking up on her every day or two, and she was just never the same after we returned (she was still pretty young, and became very antisocial).

So, I guess I was mainly wondering if anyone had some suggestions for what we could do to make things easier for him while we're gone. I was thinking of seeing if someone could spend the night with the cats, but my husband doesn't think it would be necessary. Thoughts?
