Dog of 2 years killed my cat of 5 years. What do I do now?

This morning, I was in my bedroom when I heard fighting outside. I ran out to find mine and another dog (that had somehow gotten into my fenced in yard) mauling my cat (I have seen the other dog in the area but it had never shown to be a problem). I quickly grabbed both dogs and threw them off of my cat, but it was too late. He was obviously in his last moments, so I did my best to comfort him as he passed. I held him and gave him a few last pets before he passed a few minutes later.

After my cat passed, I grabbed my airsoft gun and shot the invading dog in the hind quarters to get it the hell away from my yard. I then grabbed my dog put him in his kennel as I prepared a burial box for my cat.

So..... it's been about 7 hours since I buried my cat. I've only let my dog out of his kennel to eat and use the restroom. I do not know what to do next. My dog has never shown any aggression towards the 3 cats my wife and I own, so this took us by surprise. Now, we fear for our remaining 2 cats. Is there anyone out there that has been in a similar situation and can give us some advice? Multiple family members have all chimed in with replies ranging from "send him to the pound to be killed" to "try to re-home him with a disclosure of his recent aggressiveness". I would really appreciate some feedback. I am in shambles trying to figure out what to do.
