Feline urinary tract blockage, wet food or prescription dry food?

Recently we took my male cat to the vet for a urinary tract blockage. Now that he’s home he’s been doing nothing but hiding away & sleeping combined with peeing minuscule amounts frequently (I assume from irritation from the IV). I’ve tried to feed him the prescription dry food purchased from the vet but he stuck his nose up at me and refused to take it. He missed his meal last night so I cracked open a can of nutrience wet cat food and doused it with water and he devoured it within a couple minutes. The only thing is I’m seeing conflicting opinions about urinary tract blockages online? I’m very worried about a reoccurrence but he’d rather starve than eat the prescription food and it’s supposedly prone to causing diabetes in cats. To other pet owners who were in a similar situation what did you feed your cat to prevent a reoccurrence?
