So this HUGE cat started showing up on my property (I guess the word is out about how well we treat our pets lol) and so I went to pet him and scratch his head but then I smelled my hand it smells AWFUL like roadkill. I started to think that maybe it just like rolling in roadkill (we do live on a busy highway with plenty of raccoon and possum corpses) but then I did a little research and found out that cats can smell bad when they are suffering from an infection of some kind or when they are dying. Now I don’t think the cat is dying because he/she has quite the appetite but if it has an infection, I want help it somehow. I’d hate for animal control to come and take him away to some cold animal shelter but I’m not sure what to do. Are cats known to do the infamous “deathroll” that dogs are notorious for?
