Backround: I have a large Sirian hamster, and I love him as if he was my son. His name is Cinnabun- yes, I named him after the store. I'll call him Cinna for short though
Cinna started getting to be a bigger hamster once he was 6 months old, so I got him a bigger cage. I got him one of the plastic tunnels. (There was only plastic, this is important) and he loved it!
The thing is, he had it for about 2 weeks when started to do this. He hated how I would wake him up to make sure he was ok. (He rarely ever left the tunnel, but would still run and stuff) he made a WALL of his own crap, mixed with litter, so I couldn't wake him. When I found this out, it was deep-clean mode. I started with taking the tunnel out. He refused to budge, so I had to manhandle him (I hate doing that, it scares me.)
I'm my efforts to get the guy out, I made a HUGE mess of my room, and found out he had chewed holes through the side of his tunnel, instead of chewing on his many chews. Once he was out, I threw the God forsaken thing away.
He hated me for a day straight after that. We went to get him some new hides too, to make him feel better. When we arranged his cage, he chose NOT to go in either of the hides we gave him. I dont mind much, but one of them looks so cozy to me. At least he doesn't have anomnia from that poop wall.
