Having Cat problems.

Hey, so before anything else, ive owned many cats in my lifetime, and up until this point havnt had any real issues with any of them, for the last 6 years ive owned a Tabby cat named Chai who is just the sweetest lil guy... Last year i adopted a kitten, in the past when i attempted to introduce chai to other cats he would flip out and fight them, and refuse to be friends. Surprisingly chai took to the kitten, seeming more curious then angry about the lil fuzzball.

for the last 3 years ive gone on a 5-6 day trip to pittsburgh and left chai home alone, chai never had any issues alone, he never overate or even cleaned his food bowl during the time i was gone, and would be fine. Masala (the kitten, now 1 year old) however... Is having issues with food, and im worried. I only get to go on ONE trip a year, so im not cancelling, but i dont really know what to do about Masala. He has grown up to be a very greedy kitty, he doesnt cry or beg for food, but if food is in his bowl he devours it like hes starving. I did a test run and gave them both a weeks worth of food to test a 5 day trip and it was gone on day 3, and Masala had what could only be described as a beer gut for those 3 days. Since then hes back to normal eating (1/4 cup in the morning, another 1/4 cup in the evening each).

I just dont know what to do about their food situation while im gone. Water will be fine, i have a self filling bowl for them that can last over a month, but food... Masala is a greedy little piggy kitty and i dont know what to do :c

Im debating getting a pet sitter, but i dont feel good about the idea, and i cant leave them with anyone because they are both rescues, and chai despises anyoen who isnt me and hides, sometimes to the point of starving himself, once hiding for almost 48 hours because i had to have some work done in my bathroom, it only took a couple hours and the guy was done in one afternoon, but chai REFUSED to come out for 2 full days after. So petsitter is likely not an option.

So... What should i do?
