We recently moved and adopted a new kitten, as I was previously living with a roommate who had two other cats. I wanted to add another cat to our family and make sure my cat wasn’t lonely.
The new kitten (Ash) has been bullying my cat (Bree) for the past two months. The main things...
he eats his wet food very quickly and pushes her out of the way and eats hers. Other than monitoring him and taking him out of the room when he finishes, I haven’t found a solution. Trying to distract him with toys doesn’t help, and I even tried feeding them a bit more wet food in case he was still hungry, but nothing. I free feed them dry food.
Bree used to get on my bed all the time to be petted, especially before bed. Sometimes she would sleep at the food of my bed. He has been chasing her from the bed about 80% of the time she gets on it. She won’t even come onto the bed for cuddles anymore.
She doesn’t hiss at him very often (she did at the beginning) but now she just swats at him and runs away. I don’t often see them in a tumble very often, but sometimes they do bite at each other.
He has several other bad behaviours (scratching our moving feet, dragging his food dish across the floor when he wants food, and trying to eat human food) that I want to break, but I’m mostly concerned about my other cat right now. I want her to get back to feeling comfortable.
