We have a 6 year old cat that we are giving away to a friend as he has taken a disliking to our home and us for some reason. We tried just about everything to get him to warm up and to love on him, but he won’t have it. We decided we would get a kitten and see if that would help, plus we wanted to add to our little family.
Well, he hates the new little kitten, even though she tried to be friendly and love on him. He just stays away now and so we’re trying to get him to our friend ASAP so he is happier.
We went and got another little kitten to keep our kitten from getting lonely and so she had a sister. (To make it easier we got Jelly Bean first and then Marshmallow)
They’re both eating solid food and we’re weaned off the moms. Both are 8 weeks old. They’re from different litters and all of that though.
Marshmallow tries to play with Jelly Bean, but Jelly just hissed and growls. Jelly Bean will even wiggle and then jump to play, but once close or once Marshmallow turns around she hisses and her ears lay flat.
We are currently on the second day of having two kittens. Jelly Bean was here for a few more days, that’s all.
Is this learned behavior from the older cat? How long will it take for them to become accustomed and friendly and will they?
All other advice, help and tips are very welcome!
