How to tell if a cat has been declawed?

My family recently took in a stray 4-5 month old kitten, who we named Beltane (or Belt for short). We found her with a serious injury near the base of her tail, but she is currently recovering from surgery and is healing well. As she has been healing her energy has been coming back, and she's starting to show her more playful side. The first thing I noticed was that she's very gentle with her claws, and has barely scratched anything/anyone even when enthusiastically batting at things with her paws. I haven't had the chance to look closely at her claws, but one time when she was stretching I thought the tips of the claws looked a bit worn down and dull. They could just be filed down naturally, but I'm concerned that she may have been a runaway and her previous owners declawed her, which I know is a painful and unnecessary procedure. Are there any telltale signs of a declawing procedure? What is the safest way to get Belt to extend her claws so I can look at them? How sharp should a 4-5 month old kitten's claws be?
