Hi, there!
About to celebrate the first month out of my 12 month lease in a studio apartment. Yes, we can have pets- for the small price of a $500 pet permit fee and $50 dollar monthly charge, making that a total of (well, at this point, $1,050) just to even house a cat!!
Now, I don't know if the total cost is absurd for a pet permit (it sure as hell feels like it though, right?), however I do live in a very high COL area and wherever I go after this, I imagine it's going to be about the same as I'm anticipating on staying in the area for at least a few years. Costs wouldn't be end of the world in the grand scheme of things, however on top of food, vet bills, toys, etc. it just feels like an empty grand I'll obviously be never seeing again on top of paying for the next pet permit wherever I end up in a year. I'm finally in a position where I can adopt a cat, however this is my biggest barrier and I'm wondering if anyone else has advice and/or experience with abysmally expensive pet permits. Thanks!
