tl;dr version at bottom for simplicity.
There is a lady near me who has a mini pig. Fully grown I'd say it's about 100 pounds. She says it's about a year old, but recently her father passed and her mother and daughter both moved in with her.
When the pig was young ( she says she got him at 8 week ) they kept him in the house. When it got a bit older, about 4 months, is when everyone moved in with her. She no longer had space inside and built it a pig pen outside. It's stayed in the pen mostly since then. It is now about 1 year old according to her.
However, now financially she is struggling and cannot keep the pig. I saw it and fell in love with it. It's super affectionate, likes belly rubs, and even rubs it's snoot into your hand and licks you.
I want to adopt it, but she has never leashed or potty trained it. I would want to keep it inside mostly, but have a large backyard for it to play. I also have a pool house/in law suite which is where I was thinking of keeping it. I have two very small breed dogs. A Chihuahua and wiener dog.
Is a year old too old to teach it potty or leash training? Do they normally have good temperaments with smaller animals ?
