So as the title states my family is looking into getting a kitten. I found that our local humane society has a good number of kittens so we are going to start there. We have never owned a cat. We are dog people but my three year old is obsessed with cats and we have a lizard problem so we thought we could get a pest exterminator, new bff for our son, new family member all in one.
What advice do you all have for people who have never owned a cat before? I know scratching post and litter box and they need play time. My kids will keep the cat super entertained and loved, we have a 14 year old dog whom they adore but could honestly use less of their love and attention. I was going to get one of those self cleaning litter boxes to keep the kids and dog away from the poop, is this a good idea for a kitten? I found one on the HS website that is a month old, same birthday as my son, same color as his eyes, I just feel like it's fate ya know? But I want to go into this eyes wide open and make the final decision with some knowledge. Thanks in advance for sharing your cat knowledge!
