Microchip Is it decent?

Hello. I’m 21 and I can honestly say this is my first dog ever that’s actually loyal to me and thinks of me as it’s parent. I have a husky lab mix that’s a terrible toddler. He’s 7 months old and along with his sister they’re the a horrific duo that create havoc. But you have to love the teddy bears. But my fence isn’t exactly sturdy where I live and his sister being the leader and smarter one tends to find holes and weak points in the fence and they end up running away but not to far just elusive enough to where we can’t catch them.

Just a day or two ago they got out when I just got home and supposedly maimed my neighbors chickens. Maybe they did they’re babies and they’re dogs what can you do. (They didn’t have blood on them when they came back into the yard) We ended up giving up the search and returning home to where they actually came back into the yard around 4 am.

I have no idea what a microchip will do if it will even help I’m a newbie. Would the microchip allow me to find him with an app, will it prove ownership? He was given to me so if he has vaccination papers and does that prove he belongs to me. How exactly do I register him as my property. I just wish to stop whatever they did the other night to the chickens before it happens again. They aren’t really trained but they do respond to their names but once they’re out they run amok. Since we’ve got them they’ve ran out several times.

We do have a kennel for them but it’s a bit harsh to just simply keep them in there and tie them up is it not? So can anyone who’s an expert help me?
