My two dogs fight, need some advice

So, we've got a new dog.

Now we've two dogs. Amy was my first dog, Lara is the new one. Amy doesn't get along with other dogs very well, she never played with any other dogs and will get into fights with any dog. The two can't be left alone, because especially Amy will fight and it won't just be one little bite, she'll seriously attack with intent to inflict harm.

So far we try to keep it one step at a time. Outside the house when they're on a leash, it all goes well. But when one has food, we need to be very careful. Lara usually isn't allowed to leave or enter the house on Amy's terms.

What are some good ways to minimize the conflict between the two? Because it probably won't be long before one will do some serious harm.
