I have had my cat for 13 years, for the last four years we have lived in the same apartment. This apartment is on the fifth floor of my building, and has a fairly large patio. My cat has always loved sitting out on the patio, he has a bed out there, we get lots of sun, so he loves to sunbathe! He’s been going out there for years and there’s never been a problem. This patio is also about 60 feet up from the ground! So I had always thought, well he would never do anything stupid! Well the day has finally came, he has done something stupid. He crossed the bars, and went to the other side of the porch, which on that side is a small strip of siding maybe 2 inches wide that keeps him on the porch. At the time that I discovered him, he had gotten stuck while making his way to the right side of the bars, he was panicking! His head was through the bars but his shoulders got stuck, he was trying to put himself BACK to get unstuck, well you know what he was so desperately trying to push himself back into? NOTHING! OBLIVION! OFF THE EDGE OF THE BALCONY TO A 60ft FREE FALL. Which I am sure would have most likely killed him, he honestly looked really really realllly scared. I was able to grab him firmly by the scruff of his neck and pull him to safety. I cried pretty badly because I think if had not seen him in time, he would have fallen off the balcony and most likely died. I am never going to let him on my balcony again. I love him SO MUCH!
