Hi. I'd imagine this is a question posed frequently on this sub; sorry if it's old hat. But our Annie has lost a lot of weight in recent weeks and months, her kidney function levels are way, way down according to the vet, and she spends almost all of her day laying in bed. The arthritis in her back and hips has gotten worse, and it's clearly uncomfortable to walk. She doesn't want to go outside and chatter at birds or chew the grass anymore. She doesn't seem to be in distress, isn't vocalizing her displeasure or anything. But I also don't think we'd be doing her any favors by waiting until she's obviously in need of help.
She's had a long and lucky life... she was a young adult when we rescued her from a shelter in 2002. I don't want her to go, but I want to do the right thing. I want what is best.
Thoughts?
