Our dog usually hangs out by my parents when they're home. Whenever I walk into a room where they're hanging out, our dog will bark at me. Is there a way to get him to stop this?

It's as if he lacks the concept of object permanence. If I walk out of the room and return even seconds later, he'll still growl and bark. It takes him a few seconds to realize it's me and stop barking, but he still does it. I don't mind, but it really frustrates my dad. I get that he's probably trying to be protective of my parents, but is there any way to stop him from doing this?

Edit: We don't know what kind of dog he is, if that matters. He was a rescue, but we think he's maybe a Beagle-Rhodesian mix?
