We found a blue parakeet in our backyard this afternoon and have been trying to catch it since. Whenever we attempt to catch him, he flies off (sometimes pretty far since we have a lot of land) but he always returns to our house. We have tried whistling/ calling to him, holding out seeds, and trying to catch him with a bed sheet.
We bought a bird cage with some seed, water, and two hanging treats out on a chair near where he kept hanging around. I also scattered some seeds out on our driveway. Tomorrow, I'm planning on going out as soon as the sun comes up to put a bluetooth speaker in the cage and play parakeet noises to try to get him to go in. Is this a good plan? Any suggestions? Thanks!
